The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC<\/a>) has condemned statements made by Iran that infringe on the UAE<\/a>‘s rights over its occupied islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GCC<\/a> Secretary General Jasem Al Budaiwi said Iran’s recent remarks about sovereignty of the occupied Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb contained \u201cfallacies and false claims\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese statements infringe upon the rights of the UAE regarding its three islands, which are occupied by Iran,\u201d said Mr Al Budaiwi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also \u201ccontradict the principles of non-interference in internal affairs and good neighbourliness \u2013 principles which Iran violated through its aggression against the sovereignty and independence of the state of Qatar,\u201d he added, referring to Iran’s attack on Al Udeid US airbase in Doha during its 12-day war with Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iran’s Foreign Ministry<\/a> spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, repeated his country’s claim to the islands on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
